Excellent clear article on headaches
Problem are those people with atypical, unexplained ' neurological' symptoms which are worrying in sense of is this something or not.
we are trying to get the older members of our staff to agree to stopping the private health care schemes started years ago when it was cheaper and we could afford it . GMC is not about protecting doctors not sure what we are paying for.
already switched .Is there an explanation why simva and not all statins/?-good timing now that atorva is off patent .Is that just a coincidence?
having had a letter from the partner of a patient threatening the GMC I too have felt very angry initially then worried .
I have an excellent practice manager and GP partner who initially wrote to them .they agreed to meet . In the meantime I gathered the evidence of the case .The practice did a significant event on what had gone wrong and what could and should be done better and the lessons learnt -particularly about keeping them informed about what arrangements I was making to admit to hospital.
We met -it was important to hear what they had to say. I apologised .we shook hands .My manager has written a follow up letter with the contact details of the Ombudsman .
So far not heard anything .pt is doing well.
I wonder if all practices have a policy on how to handle complaints and Significant Event reporting.
Patients want their concerns to be heard .They want explanations and apologies as things could always go better.
You are not able to predict a CVA ! so please do not punish yourself .
