the REAL reason they are cutting back shifts is because they have lost the contract after March'19... the incentives they offered earlier in the year were no different from previous years.

A&E triage nurses should be able to divert inappropriate patients to 111, the OOH GP or the daytime surgery who can see them on a sit and wait basis. The only currency patient's can offer is their waiting time and having to wait longer is the only deterrent to inappropriate users.
'Forward thinking American healthcare organisations' should not be used as a model for the NHS in the U.K. Instead of looking for solutions abroad the DofH should be listening to those here on the front line
