£120 an hour out-of-hours GP bonanza

Manchester LMC is challenging whether PCTs in the city can include long-standing GPs with a special interest schemes in enhanced service spending.

Three trusts have allocated £1.6 million of their £6.5 million enhanced services spending floor to the schemes, which have cut hospital referrals and waiting times.

Dr Peter Fink, secretary of Manchester LMC, said enhanced services money was supposed to be for new initiatives yet these schemes had been running for two to three years. He has raised the issue with the GPC.
