16. David Behan

NEW ENTRY

Recently appointed chief executive of the Care Quality Commission in place of the increasingly beleaguered Cynthia Bower, Mr Behan faces a tough task to convince both GPs and the public that the regulator is fit for purpose. After allegations of a ‘bullying culture' at the organisation and the massive failures in patient care discovered at the Winterborne View care home and Mid-Staffs hospital trust, the CQC's reputation has been tarnished. GPs will be hoping that Mr Behan is not so distracted by clearing up this mess that he loses his grip on the registration of GPs, due to begin later this year.
