The Welsh government obviously believe in the "Build it and they will come" philosophy - fools
What most people fail to realise is that Trainspotting is actually a Scottish documentary is is in no way fictional. Scotland - keeping it real!
About time the Jeremys (cockney rhyming slang for Hunt) at the GMC got a taste of their own medicine.
In the immortal words of Pat Benetar
"It's a little too little
It's a little too late"
"New Scottish GP contract will make profession attractive again". Yes maybe and yet again "Pigs Might Fly Out Of My Butt"
At least they put the onus on patients this time around and stopped blaming GP's (for now at least).
I fully agree with Lifeboats comment "APMS = more expensive..rubbish quality"
As far as I am aware the GP practice in question in Portadown has has two advertising trawls aimed at recruiting salaried GP's to work in this "service". As far as I am aware they received NO APPLICANTS! To quote Cilla Black "Surprise Surprise!"
As far as I am aware the GP practice in Portadown featured in the Pulse article "First ever APMS contract awarded in Northern Ireland" has has two advertising trawls aimed at recruiting salaried GP's to work in this practice. As far as I am aware they received NO APPLICANTS! To quote Cilla Black "Surprise Surprise!"
What does Professor David Nutt have to say on this matter? Frankly I don't trust advice on these sort of issues from anyone else - at least Professor Nutt bases his advice on scientific fact not politically driven misguided ideology.
What about Ask My GP? A recipe for disaster?
Dear Peter - I hope your Basset Hound doesn't get addicted! How much did the vet charge you for the gabapentin and what is the dose in mg/kg? Our vet wanted to put our dog on tramadol. The illegal ketamine trade was initially sourced from veterinary supplies (not much use of ketamine in GP land). Are veterinary supplies policed in the same was as medical supplies? If not then all of the prescription drug abusers can go and get an old dog and get all the tramadol and gabapentin they want - possibly some ketamine too if they are lucky!
In what percentage of the deaths attributed to these drugs were they being "taken as prescribed" by the individuals that they were prescribed for?
Oh well. Back to amitriptyline then. It has so many side effects no one could possibly abuse it could they? Some individuals will abuse anything including imodium and cyclizine. According to the new NICE guidelines on back pain all that we can offer patients is our commiserations - x-rays and analgesia are off the table. Someone is going to get sued at some point for failing to x-ray what later turns out to be metastatic disease, multiple myeloma or osteoporotic collapse!
The headline should read "Titanic appoints new Band Leader"
Abide with me .....
Crisis. What "crisis"?
Dear Nigel. Please enlighten me on a few points. As far as I am aware Hulls previous attempt at European GP recruitment was a complete flop. If that scheme was a failure, why should this scheme succeed? Secondly if all of our GP's are leaving for Australia and New Zealand why would anyone expect Australia and New Zealand GP's to come to the UK?
Its a pity "Don't Worry - Be Happy" isn't one of Bob Marley's tracks
The bottom of the barrel has been well and truly scraped.
Training schemes need to start advertising in some of the more disreputable Caribbean medical schools - the ones that take all of the failed "not smart enough" to be US medical graduates.
Perhaps the UK government needs to bring back some of its old policies and introduce a "Become A GP YTP scheme" - sorry the seem to have already introduced this policy.
Crisis - what crisis?
I hear that the "Portadown Problem" (which was miraculously fixed by the HSCB under the then Health Ministers "Please Just Make It Go Away" policy) may be lurching towards a further crisis.
This time around it will be a 45,000 patient crisis which will make the previous 5,000 patient crisis look like a storm in a teacup.
Bring it on - I want to quit the NHS now.
Exiting the NHS does not hold any fear for me anymore.
A much bigger fear would trying to struggle on in a failing system and burning out or ending my career in the courts getting sued for something I missed just due to sheer work overload, fatigue, and stress.
My dilithium crystals are on their last legs and in the immortal words of Scotty “I dannae is she can take any more, Captain”
Please “Beam me up Scotty” and remove me from this living hell that modern day General Practice has become.
I have had enough of being everyone’s scapegoat, punch-bag and dumping ground – the press, the politicians, the public and secondary care.
Anything is better than this.
I can’t wait to see how they try and manage a health service without GPs because that is what is just about to happen next.
Don’t say we didn’t tell you so.
If Mr Hunts "Fake News" propaganda campaign continues perhaps we should start calling him "Donald Hunt".
Mr Hunt obviously doesn't give a Donald (cockney rhyming slang - Donald Duck).
Perhaps Mr Hunt should shove his "Fake News" up his Garry (cockney rhyming slang- 70's glam rock sex offender)
