Maybe smokers could do better...and stop smoking.
"The responsible GP would be responsible for making sure the out-of-hours services are of sufficient quality and access through talking to the providers, as they have some influence."
And if they' don't have sufficient quality, what then? Do we have to do the on-call ourselves or have to take the blame when the service provider balls up?
Thanks a million Clare/RCGP for first suggesting this nonsense!
It's only a matter of time until the government of either colour makes us take all the OOH responsibility for ALL patients because "the evidence" will have shown that this system worked so well for the vulnerable elderly patients.
First we had Mr La-La. Now we have the minister for Murdoch as our Health Secretary. What joy!
Patients 'gambling with their lives' when choosing GPs, hospitals 'strive for mediocricy' but we're drinking and smoking less
If he wants to see mediocrity, the minister for Murdoch should look in the mirror.
He has been around long enough to realise that politicians say one thing & do another. He should not have got into bed with them against the better judgemnent of the medical profession.
Now his is "concerned". He should not show that he is too concerned as he then may miss out on his knighthood.
