  • DH unable to guarantee 76% CQC fee hike will be fully reimbursed

    Sharon Gavin-Jones's comment 20 Oct 2016 2:41pm

This is an absolute joke at a time when all Practices are feeling the pinch. I really don't see how they can justify an annual charge increase of this significance for 1 in 5 yearly inspections. That will mean any one inspection for even the smallest practice will cost them night on £20,000 for the privilege. How on earth can that be right and just?! The process is a shambles, practices doing exactly the same thing getting different ratings from different inspectors; 6 months or more to get a report, so where is the patient confidence there, if there's something picked up its likely not to be tackled for another year.....

  • GP practices closing while waiting on support promised by Jeremy Hunt

    Sharon Gavin-Jones's comment 04 Oct 2016 10:56am

    |Anonymous | Sessional/Locum GP|03 Oct 2016 11:03am such a negative and uninformed sweeping statement! As a PM of a `vulnerable practice' I can categorically state that our Practice is well-led, rated Good by CQC, innovative and certainly not archaic!!! We have had some funding from NHSE, the grand sum of £2500 - god knows what we're supposed to achieve with that when what we really need is expert advice and guidance. However, apparently they haven't been able to put that together yet so in order to justify the money we have had to hold numerous meetings to try and pick a way through the quagmire of info from various accountants and solicitors. Yet more clinical time lost and needing to be back-filled by locums who are charging an extortionate amount of money, although, thankfully we have a couple of `regulars' who really enjoy working with us and make life easier.

  • Seven-day GP services 'reduced A&E attendances by 26%'

    Sharon Gavin-Jones's comment 07 Sep 2016 12:22pm

I think the key thing to note is that the 27% reduction in costs are for treating MINOR INJURIES. GP Surgeries are never going to be the best place for this, stop closing MIU's and focus on making the best use of them instead.

  • How job-sharing stopped us from retiring

    Sharon Gavin-Jones's comment 09 Jun 2016 3:22pm

For a Practice struggling to recruit young Partners and with existing all looking to retire in approx. 3 years, this is inspiring and could be the key to ensuring stability of the Practice for a bit longer.

  • Journalists - if you've got a problem with us, come out and say it

    Sharon Gavin-Jones's comment 11 Mar 2016 12:34pm

Playing Devil's advocate, maybe Mr Glass was also using irony????

  • Why would we want to encourage patients to book appointments online?

    Sharon Gavin-Jones's comment 26 Jan 2016 11:52am

Offer telephone consultation appointments on-line, not face to face. Works a treat! Ticked the box but still with some control.
