£300,000 to evaluate early adopters of Care Record

Connecting for Health is offering a £300,000 contract to evaluate the 'Early Adopter' implementation of the general practice component of the NHS Summary Care Record.

It wants proposals from

independent teams 'able to evaluate the system with a

valid evaluation tool capable

of withstanding independent scrutiny'.

The tender advert says that while £300,000 has been earmarked initially, an independent steering committee could recommend further research and further funding may become available.

The pilot programme will initially examine the use of

patient records from the perspective of both health professionals and patients in one

geographic area that is using a

single GP software provider, with another clinical domain such as an emergency department able to access the records.

The programme will then be extended to cover other domains such as a walk-in centre, GP out-of-hours provider or

minor injury unit.
