My anti-burnout strategy for the next five years
I may be reading this wrong, but I think having the heading "anti-burnout strategy" for this brief blog is stretching it a bit. Change the headline! Sorry.
GPs under 50 leaving profession due to fear of burnout, NHS study finds
I really hope we see some changes soon.
I have given myself 2 years, and will re-assess then.
Am on maternity leave during that time (6 months) from April. I am currently deciding whether I spend some of that time re-evaluating career options; or investing time in exploring re-structure options for my practice/working at scale etc.
The next few months will be critical for me. General practice is all I have ever wanted to do, and I feel sad and disappointed at what it has become. Many of my GP friends are planning exit strategies; positive change and solutions must come our way soon. Hoping the BMA LMCs Special Conference will lead that....Pulse editor wins major industry prize
Congratulations Nigel, so pleased to read this. You are doing a fantastic job.
1. Dr Dean Eggitt
Well done to Dean, very much deserved. A leader with his heart in the right place! So refreshing.

GP Partner- HertfordshirePM's seven-day GP pilot drastically reduces Sunday opening amid 'frequently empty' appointments
I think the words I used were "frequently empty" rather than "completely empty".
I'd be grateful if that could be corrected.
Of note- phlebotomy was popular on a Sunday. (Which is something that phlebotomists do, not GPs.)
Thanks. Are we really 'resilient', or are we just overexploited?
Thank you Shaba.
Wonderfully written, and refreshingly honest.

Finance diary, February: Managing premises costs when partners retire
Thanks for this, as a recently qualified GP (August 2011) and new GP Partner this is the sort of information that is not readily available, or taught during vocational training. It's very helpful, thanks.
GP appointed clinical director at foundation trust
Well done, and good luck.
Moving simple ENT into primary care
Thank you for publishing this. I am looking into ENT service redesign as a member of a commissioning board in West Herts, and it's very helpful to read about your experience.
There are quite a few GPs with ENT experience around I have discovered; and so if a locum or replacement was needed on a temporary or permanent basis for Dr Brown, I suspect you would easily find one.
