'GIRES – which paid the RCGP £7,837 to run the course ' - a pressure group is allowed to fund an 'educational course' to promote their ideological agenda amongst GPs!
The doctor takes the risk, the company makes the profit. Don't touch it with a barge pole folks.
It will implode with the first missed sepsis
Change everyone (more or less) to NOAC, problem solved, drug budget through the roof.
The reason NARD fails - recommendations with no resources, the reason NICE fails - recommendations with no resources, the reason SIGN fails - recommendations with no resources! We trust Dr Radcliffe doesn't make the same mistake.
I would consider that the Achilles heel of these private screening companies must be their failure to follow up on their duty of care by counselling and acting upon the results THEY generate. It surely must be possible to strike a few off the GMC register on this basis alone.
Some people just do not live in the real world. Why would any GP pay / endure the hassle of such a process to offer a free service???? Certification systems only work in the market place when motivated by the rewards of holding the certificate - eg CORGI registered. Here there are no rewards!!!

The government couldn't possibly afford the costs of extending a full GP service to 12 hours per day 7 days per week, bearing in mind the hike in hourly rates for weekend and evening hours you would be looking at doubling your budget for general practice, which is just not going to happen, it will just be a hash bash again with government claims of what they are providing failing to match up with reality
Let us be very careful in seeking the liberalism of mainland UK, since 1967,over 8 million unborn children have been killed here, with few dissenting voices, but rather support from politicians, press and even the medical establishment. Their voices are unheard and their lives and rights protected by no law and no advocate. A population greater than the whole of Scotland or London, exterminated and that often in the most barbaric of ways, this a holocaust now exceeding that of the Nazi extermination camps. I am glad to read that there remains in the UK at least one place where a semblance of humanity remains, may it long continue.
It would be interesting see a copy of his weekly schedule. Does the Professor / CQC inspector / daily Mail journalist work 08:00 till 20:00 in General Practice, Monday to Friday doing his best with the limited time and resources at hand, or does he simply have unattainable ideals of what everyone else who is doing the job ought to be achieving? Rather than inventing standards how about getting us the resources???
The only reasonable response is strike action
Junior doctors need more than a guarantee that they will be at least as well paid as they are now, for longer contractual hours and more flexibility I would expect increased pay
Can you buy shares in it?
Has anyone at NICE ever held a morning surgery?
Sounds more like an advertising campaign for Australia
I thought that was the point of doing a medical degree for 5 years???
GMC out of control yet again
The first of many I suspect
He will need to be offering good pay rates to get them back from Australia
I think I have just identified a potential saving of £250 million in the future NHS budget....
