In one way the 9ers are solid heroes doing their best for society.
In another way they are perpetuating a system which is untenable.
Bang on. Part time because any more would be intolerable.
I also agree that the system is abusive, especially of partners.
I don't know, talking about the negatives achieved me moving to Canada. Good job team.
I'd take two issues with this:
The pregnancy is theirs, not his. Rightly she'll get more rights if they split.
She couldn't have known your colleague was attractive over the phone.
Apart from that do what you want. If someone tried sex addiction as an excuse on any of my patients I'd likely recommend chucking them. If it's an addiction why did it start after children? Was the addiction not in remission during the pregnancy? I can see it as a continuous destructive pattern, but as an excuse in someone otherwise doing well? I prefer these conversations face to face.
Have you seen the guardian article about how junior doctors are treated?
Over the last few years I've come to the conclusion that the NHS basically runs on abusing it's staff. More unfunded work anyone? Enforced pension tax?
I wouldn't reccomend a patient stays in an abusive relationship so why do we? I'm off overseas, I hope those left behind get treated better but suspect unless we grow a collective spine it will never happen.
Thank you for your excellent column
God what a bunch of whingers. I'm a man, I recon the average female GP probably is better than the average male GP. Also women attend more and live longer, so I recon women for the win.
Christopher, if that is your real name, respect to your brass balls.
Are you willing to say "I Christopher Ho, am willing to see poor people, and their children, suffer and die, because I believe it is farer that way"?
If you aren't it's all just socialism. Which I personally am in favor of for healthcare.
Without informed, rational, choice the market is not efficient. There is not informed meaningful choice in health care markets. The USA has a huge spend for moderate results, at a population level, is this what you think the answer is?
Me moving to Canada (aged 40, GP ex partner). Hooray!
Good luck everyone.
Is this not just the summer bump as people qualify or start registrar posts in August?
I'd ban the electric ones apart from the patients using them at home. Agree with IDGAF
Just made the decision to emigrate. Out at 40, madness.
This is a tragedy of misgovernance.
On a more serious note. Any solution must be acceptable to the profession as a whole. By the look of it, this isn't. Isn't this what urology specialist nurses are for?
There are so few new partners or places where you can offer proper care, because there is enough time, that systems should be as robust as possible. A knackered locum doing god knows how many bloods past home time is not a robust system.
Idgaf. You funny.
I agree with the author. Societal problems lie outside my realm of influence. No chance of sorting these problems through the prism of medicine.
Christopher I think is wrong, didn't Greenspan manufacture the 2008 financial crash because he followed Freidman?
I suspect people who follow Jordan Petersen are less happy than those who don't. He's not an economist.
My practice nurse is awesome.
Today she referred someone to derm with pityriasis versicolor because the blotches were still there 2 weeks after treatment.
Good luck Darzi.
When did this become our job? I remember being told to prescribe generically for years and now expected to switch things constantly. Is a matter for NHS England and the pharmacies ideally.
Got to disagree. Type 2 diabetes is insulin resistance. This in my understanding is caused by excess exposure to insulin (cars while inactive) and downregulation of sensitivity.

Totally agree. Signed
