  • Disappointed in the 'new deal'? You are not the only one

    Michael Jenkins's comment 19 Jun 2015 11:35pm

Resign Maureen Baker , you have let down the whole profession .

Clever move to give Chaand a CBE and sad that he accepted it . No GP will trust him now , unless he gives an appropriate response about unachievable and inappropriate 7 day working . Balloting the profession well overdue .

  • New deal: Jeremy Hunt's speech in full

    Michael Jenkins's comment 19 Jun 2015 11:19pm

' Intelligent transparency , though must have intelligent consequences .One of those a change in culture - from name and shame to learning and peer group '
Painting pots and kettles black again Mr.Hunt ? You have clearly chosen to forget your suggestion to name and shame GP's who don't make enough cancer referrals .
Dr.Jonathon .Sergeant from Brighton said the pilot has been a ' fantastic opportunity for practices to learn to work together ' The same CCG where a practice has been closed down after a CQC inspection last week , leaving 10,000 patients without a GP , who were directed towards a walk-in centre for their care . How did that happen when practices were working together ?

' So social prescribing becomes as normal part of your job as medical prescribing does ' I am sure that will help attract newly trained doctors to general practice .... not ! I trained to be a doctor , not a social worker .

    So 10 % more investment for 40 % more time to cover - call that a deal Mr.Hunt ?

  • 'It is vital that urgent action is taken on this issue'

I have witnessed burnout in a number of colleagues and would like to add my support to this letter

  • National GP returners scheme to be rolled out as NHS England kicks off workforce strategy

    Michael Jenkins's comment 06 Mar 2015 10:11pm

This scheme will actually encourage doctors to go to Australia . There will be perceived less risk leaving the UK to work abroad , encouraging more doctors to leave , who will find a far better working enviroment , only never to return .

  • Are we really 'resilient', or are we just overexploited?

    Michael Jenkins's comment 31 Jan 2015 9:04pm

    Dear Shabi ,
This is such a well written piece that it deserves national publication and recognition , so that the general public knows the reality of GP's plight . It is very timely . Why not submit it as a letter to the national newspapers ?
