45,000 patients sign LMC's Downing Street petition

By Steve Nowottny

Londonwide LMCs have taken a petition signed by thousands of patients directly to Downing Street, as the latest part of their campaign against privatisation and single-site polyclinics.

More than 45,000 patients from across the capital signed the petition – almost ten times the number of responses to the official NHS London consultation.

Dr Kambiz Boomla, treasurer of Londonwide LMCs, said: ‘This says everything about how patients feel about polyclinics and the headlong rush towards privatisation of general practice – they are quite clearly against it.'

‘Patients simply do not accept NHS London's PR spin that ‘there is broad support for polyclinics'. There isn't.'
