I referred myself to the gmc when I was diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder I felt it Was the professional thing to do. 5 years later and I still plagued by continual investigation from the GMC despite having no complaints lodged about my practice and having proved time and time again that I manage my condition responsibly. The letters I receive from them are a great source of stress and anxiety for me and whilst my illness can at times plunge me into bouts of depression the stress the GMC has imposed has at times led me to contplate suicide. Around 27 doctors under review last year alone committed suicide. How many more of us have to die before they realise how unfair this system is.
I totally agree. The GMC need to start supporting Doctors not condemning us.
GMC to introduce 'emotional resilience' training after finding 28 doctors under investigation committed suicide
I referred myself to the GMC when I was diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder in 2009. The GMC "stress" imposed has been the main trigger for my relapses and me contemplating suicide.
