What about having a contract to do the best we can do our job as Clinicians (obviously what we trained for in Medical School) for certain number of hours a week, get paid and let the Manager worry about non clinical matters ?
Are we going mad?? In 20 years we will be seeing the consequences of supporting one addiction over another, lots of damages coming...
The problem is that people is convinced that we are over paid and that entitles everyone to abuse us.... and believe that money can pay everything....
And? Who made available these medications? Who requested, no, demanded them? Which Governance organism advocated the use of Gabapentinoids??? And don't get me started on trying to get patients to change their life style choices... Expectations are nearly impossible to fulfil, the culture of "I want it all and I want it now" has done no favours to anyone, even less people that needs help!
Solution: If we all become Salaried GPs, employed to work a number of hours, as per European regulations (OMG we are leaving the EU.... maybe no more protection from this...), 37 hours a week, and getting paid by the hours contracted...
I was taught in Medical school that I was not becoming a Doctor to treat numbers... NICE insists in treating numbers... where do I stand?
It is really sad that the clinical knowledge of GPs is put in question when we refer anyone to secondary care, knowing that Primary care can't help longer and when the health of our patients, their ability to go to work or enjoy a healthy life is put under the scrutiny of Administratively lead triage systems that don't understand that we deal with human beings.... Sad times no doubt
I really don't understand why treating symptoms of menopause should be considerate on "compassionate grounds" or why now that more than 50% of workforce are women, we should treat it?
Shouldn't we eliminate all those things of our minds and treat people because they have problems????
God bless naïf people... she is going to recruit or find them.... where??? OMG, Tambien vive de ilusiones el tonto de los c.....s
It does not translate very well!
Something that is always puzzled me is that anyone can promise to "have 10000 GPs more in the next ..x..x years"
What if you don't have 10000 people wanting to become GPs????
This could happen to anyone, if someone believes "this will never happen to me" they really don't understand their own limitations, from themselves or from the organisation where they work
And then, the Zombies invaded the UK..... get ready!!
Complain to improve services is probably the worst way to go about this! Proper evaluation of services by Independent agencies, identifying needs and supporting the development of improvements.... maybe. Once a patient puts a complain that is it, we are at the mercy of whatever they write and unable to defend ourselves. Complain systems should be used for serious matters
This happens regularly here...
Ahhhhhh Pain...... Not an easy problem to manage.... who has the time to go through all the factors that influence pain when seeing a patient? Who is going to stop the medications??? Especially opioids... People is addicted... Detox clinics anyone?????
Someone should make aware all those people self diagnosing Coeliac, about the risks of diets with no gluten !!!
And has anyone stopped to think what comes first, the chicken or the egg? And of course Anorexics are as happy as Larry! Come on! .....
This will only make the appraisal an even more tick box exercise.. at least when I was doing personal reflection I was gaining something ....
Well, we need to carry on working...
Some people has watched to many episodes of Star Trek!!
