5 – Dame Sally Davies

Dame Sally Davies has recently taken up the post of chief medical officer at the Department of Health, the first woman to take on the role.

She had been the interim CMO since May and boosted her profile significantly when she was led the Department's of Health's response during the last winter flu season.

Her to-do list in her new role will include creating a public health service for England and overseeing the implementation of the public health white paper.
