50 GPs apply to join up

The Royal Navy has confirmed that 50 GPs have expressed an interest in joining up for five years in return for £50,000 golden hellos and salaries of up to £94,000.

A spokesman for the Navy said typically one in 12 who inquired actually joined, but expected the conversion rate to be higher for this campaign. The armed forces are 23 per cent short of their requirement of 8,400 medical staff.
