Why is the RCGP pushing this? It’s outside of their remit by a country mile. And... how is the income being replaced?
...like rubbing salt water into wounds...
In a horrible twist of irony, the time taken for GPs to complete paperwork for revalidation may impact more on patient care than the improvement in care that the process was originally designed to produce.
Note the difference when hospitals are told to cancel operations by NHSE rather than on one day of JD strike action... mmmm.
I need three things to help with my GP role.
1. Increase funding.
2. Allow surgeries to close lists if over a certain capitation (i.e. 1500 patients per WTE)
3. Give me back up if I decide to say 'No' to an inappropriate demand on the basis of my clinical experience
This is economically useful information to organisation seeking to cherry pick the highest earning or the most ripe practices for take-over.. nothing more, nothing less.

What are they thinking.. Filling in a form does not inspire me to be a GP. Why couldn't they have created something like the Australian RACGP 'Good GP' campaign. If you haven't seen it, you should, it's powerful and hits to the core of what GPs offer that no other specialty can. It is also another prime example of why Australia appears more and more attractive to our GP colleagues.
