A cultural approach

Dr Mike Ingram travelled all the way to the ancient kingdom of Bhutan to learn about alternative approaches to health care.

During his fact-finding mission he gathered information on herbal remedies for fever, infection and malaria, and learned about 'cultural approaches' to treatment.

Dr Ingram, a GP in Radlett, Hertfordshire, said the trip had given him a 'great insight' into alternative models of care.'

In Bhutan you can understand the cultural approach to health problems, which is relevant in a multicultural society.'

Dr Ingram is an adviser for Pulse's travel clinic and the website.
