Appeal to GPs on child protection

The Commission for Health Improvement has called for GPs to become more actively involved in child protection.

In its reports on safeguards for children in Surrey, Stockport and Shropshire, it concluded that GPs were often not represented on Area Child Protection Committees.

GPs were also unable to attend child protection conferences or training sessions, the commission concluded.
