Are PCTs ready for the new contract?

PCTs face a 'rocky ride' on the new contract ­ and GPs should brace themselves for several months' uncertainty while details of local deals are hammered out, the NHS Alliance is warning.

Dr David Jenner, who leads the alliance's network of professional executive committee chairs, said: 'There is a real worry among GMS GPs that they are signing a legally binding contract and it is still full of holes. It has been dreadfully rushed. It will take until October before practices and PCTs are truly happy signing off the contract in detail.'
