Bad strategy on sex

GP Dr Martyn Walling defends the implantation of 400 under-16s with progesterone-acting contraceptives (News, May 10). He says 'No alone is never going to work' and the continuation rate for combined oral contraceptive is poor.

Under-age sex is illegal and sexual abuse is being compounded with steroid hormone abuse. Implanting immunosuppressive and carcinogenic hormones in teenagers is a disastrous strategy for reproductive health.
