Be afraid...respect for GPs is dwindling

I was interested to read your article on respecting the intellect of a Down's patient (Registrar, December 1).

What about sufficient respect for the intellect of someone able to obtain a medical degree, to prevent us being treated like truant fourth-formers?

Who was it that said democracy is the most difficult form of government to maintain? The current attitude toward our profession is fast becoming politically correct totalitarianism.

Be afraid....
