Burgled practice's £5,000

Dr Robert Morley's practice is to get £5,000 from its PCT to improve security after it was burgled twice in a month.

The practice is one of several to receive cash from Eastern Birmingham PCT after a spate of break-ins in the area.

Dr Morley said £4,500 worth of computer equipment was taken in the most recent incident.

'It's not just the money involved when it happens, it's also the disruption it causes in terms of getting access to patient records and the sheer mess,' he added.

'While £5,000 is not a great deal, it is something and will certainly help and I suppose the PCT sees it as important now they are having to pay more for IT.'
