Choice is yours, GPC says

Dr Simon Fradd, GPC joint-deputy chair, said there are three reasons why the negotiators are not commending the contract to the profession.

At a meeting organised by west Kent GPs, Dr Fradd said the consultants committee had commended their contract, only to see it rejected by hospital doctors, and the GP contract in 1990 had been rejected despite the GPC's commendation.

The second reason was the danger that the GPC had been so involved in the negotiations they may not 'see the wood for the trees'.

Thirdly, Dr Fradd said it was because GPs' decision would be based on how the contract affected them.
