NHS England releases guidance on widening choice for mental health patients
NHS England has released interim guidance to help ensure GPs are referring patients for mental health treatment anywhere in the country.
The guidance, which is under consultation, sets out the details behind NHS England’s plans to allow patients to choose any clinically approved mental health provider that is commissioned by NHS England or a CCG anywhere in the country.
NHS England said the rules, which formed part of the Government’s new mental health strategy unveiled in January and were effective from last month, established ‘parity of esteem’ between mental health and physical health services.
Any feedback on the interim guidance, which will be finalised in the summer, should be submitted to email@example.com by Thursday 31 July.
