Not all alginates are the same

  • The strength of alginates can differ, depending on the polysaccharide content1,2
  • The alginate in Gaviscon has a high concentration of GG polymers,* which, in the presence of calcium ions, cross-link to form a strong barrier to reflux**1,3

*Guluronic acid polymers1 **Gaviscon Double Action and Gaviscon Advance1,3

Our strength is in our science

The Gaviscon range is formulated to create a strong alginate raft: alginate barriers can perform differently, even when the formulations are similar.1,3-5
