Date of ballot is no clearer

GPs are no closer to knowing when they can cast their vote on the new contract as key pricing issues remain unresolved and details of the new income guarantee emerge.

In an unprecedented move, negotiators called an emergency Saturday meeting of the GPC to discuss the crisis surrounding the contract. The GPC is expected to give approval to the remodelled version and sign off a new implementation timetable.

GPC negotiators said they could not set a ballot date until the pricing of enhanced services was agreed and published. The annex containing the information is now two weeks overdue.

GPC chair Dr John Chisholm said the BMA would this week send practices their alternative global sum if they opt to ditch Carr-Hill.
