Deaneries hit out at budget 'smoothing'

NICE has given its formal recommendation including computerised cognitive behavioural therapy as an option in the treament of mild and moderate depression.

This is an issue that will greatly impact not only on the treatment of these patients but also the GPs who manage them.

On the background of very poor press for antidepressant medication, and given the predicted massive cost savings of a move to a proven non-pharmacological treatment, this will become a huge story in months to come.
