At the heart of general practice since 1960

Don't become a GP, son

Reading about how the Government is steadily working to erode and dismantle general practice through 'Dr' Reid's 'reforms' (News, December 15), aided and abetted by our 'union' the BMA, I feel totally confirmed in my decision to advise my newly qualified son to go for anything but general practice.

It may see me out but there won't be family medicine as we have known it for long. He has sensibly chosen orthopaedics there will always be a need for such skills, and people will pay for it, if necessary.
