Don't just complain, do something

I wish to thank all those who responded to my Speaker's Corner piece calling for GPs to form an alternative union to champion our cause.

I would urge anyone who wants to take control of their own destiny to register with the Pulse website, and search for the blog 'Spleen' under the comment tab. Here you can read my manifesto and register your support for an attempt finally to do something.

As any doctor who witnessed the lightning victory after industrial action by hospital doctors in the 1970s will testify, we still wield huge power. But it is being drained away daily.

I know from your emails that my opinions are those of the majority, but I cannot and will not fight this cause alone.

I, like most of you, am very busy, with a family, a mortgage and hobbies. But we must all invest a little of our time to secure an acceptable future. For the benefit of us all, don't just complain - do something!
