Don't scare away new recruits yet

Scrap GPs? What a good idea. I wonder if patient choice tsar Harry Cayton has actually given those pesky patients the choice? No? I thought not.

Never mind, I'll run with the idea when a truly independent analysis of GPs' current working practices (obviously with international comparators and cost/benefit analysis) proves that the monkeys can run the asylum better, cheaper, more error-free or more acceptably to the paying (voting) punters.

It's called evidence-based medicine. It might be good to apply it to health service policy. A bit uncomfy with that Mr Patient Tsar? I thought so.

Meanwhile, Mr Cayton, let's not put off would-be young GP recruits till the facts are clear.
