Don't worry about IT money, GPs are told

GPs will get 100 per cent reimbursement for IT and 'should not worry where the money is coming from', the NHS Confederation says.

Mike Farrar, chair of the confederation negotiating team, said the commitment for PCTs to cover maintenance and upgrades will be met as soon as possible. 'The confederation is clear the commitment will be honoured,' he said. 'As far as GPs are concerned they need not worry about where the money is coming from.'

Speaking at the launch of the National Electronic Booking Programme, director general of NHS IT Richard Granger refused to say wheth-er the Government planned to add to its £17 million fund for PCTs to meet the cost.
