Egton Medical Information Systems Ltdis a primary care software provider. According to the company EMIS software is used by 55.8 per cent of GP practices in England and 53.8 per cent of practices across the UK.

EMIS began in the 1980s in a rural GP practice in Egton near Whitby in North Yorkshire. Dr Peter Sowerby and Dr David Stables wrote the original software. It now carries more than 39,000 patient records on its systems.
