Escape hatch for threatened GPs

GPs treating violent patients will be able to flee through an escape hatch that is being incorporated into a new mobile surgery.

The mobile surgery will be used to treat violent patients from four primary care trusts across north Nottinghamshire from mid-December.

It will be parked close to local police stations and will have its own security minder who can be summoned by the GP. The £50,000 cost is being met by the Department of Health.
