Foreign GPs - get ready for a baptism of fire

The risks faced by foreign GPs are highlighted in the recent report showing their increased risk of referral to the National Clinical Assessment Service ('Overseas doctors more likely to face assessment').

Most foreign qualified and ethnic minority GPs work very hard in the NHS in difficult circumstances, yet the dangers they face are real and deadly.

Foreign GPs should not expect any help from the so-called leaders of overseas doctors organisations. I'd appeal to all ethnic minority GPs to become informed on the requirements of revalidation and the risks it carries.

Prepare yourself for a baptism of fire.
