Get real pensions are a deal breaker

After all the hype from GPC joint-deputy chair Dr Simon Fradd that there would be no deal unless the pensions issue was satisfactorily addressed to close the gap between ourselves and our consultant colleagues, what has been achieved by our negotiators? Nothing.

Despite admitting total defeat in not persuading the Government of our legitimate case to increase the accrual rate and the dynamising factor, Dr Fradd disregards the opinion of BMA actuaries and insists that it is not a disastrous deal.

I wonder if he lives in the real world. For many GPs who are about to retire this contact has nothing in it to compensate for pension underprovision over the years. I for one will be voting against it.
