Going online with records

From Dr David Stables

Co-founder and clinical director EMIS

With reference to your story about the trial of online patient access to medical records at a practice in Derbyshire (News, March 23), I would like to point out that this project is at an early stage.

Two volunteer patients have given their informed consent to putting their records online to test feasibility.

Over the next month it is hoped a further 20 patients will be recruited, with more patients and practices to follow.

We believe online record access will soon be an everyday element of the partnership between patients and their GPs, and look forward to the day when we can offer this service to all practices.
