Goodness knows why RCGP exists

While GPs may be 'not sure what the RCGP is for' (News, February 9) some of us are old enough to remember the mooting of the college.

It was originally set up to counteract the political power of the then two royal colleges by refuting the notion that GPs were only chaps that had fallen off the ladder that led to consultant posts.

What it is there for now – goodness knows.
