GP bargains by microscope

Dr Alan Byers is planning to use the fact his surgery has an operating microscope to win enhanced services funding for minor surgery.

He said he is still doing ear, nose and throat minor surgery for free.

Dr Byers, a GP in Pinner, Middlesex, said he also used the microscope to create hearing aid moulds.

'I find it very useful, especially as I have a background in ENT,' he added.
