GP clinic dramatically cuts minor surgery wait

Dr Jeremy Tankel is one of three GPs working at a pioneering community-based minor surgery unit, which opened last week.

The unit in Salford, Greater Manchester, had slashed the area's waiting list for minor surgery by 76 per cent during a two-month trial.

Dr Tankel, who underwent extra training with a hospital consultant, is paid £170 for his three-hour weekly session treating conditions including skin tags, cysts and abscesses.
