GP dives into pool dispute

Dr Maggie Deytrikh is leading a campaign to keep a school swimming pool open to the public after the district council pulled the plug on funding.

Dr Deytrikh, a GP in Lanchester, County Durham, said: 'I am in the forefront of the battle against inactivity and obesity, and their contribution towards hypertension, diabetes, ischaemic heart disease and cerebrovascular disease.'
