GP flies in Albanian child for treatment

Dr Mike Davies has helped an Albanian child with a rare bone condition gain specialist treatment in the UK.

The Leicester GP met five-year-old Daniel Spahiu while carrying out charity work in Albania last year.

Moved by Daniel's rare form of hip displasia, which leaves his left leg shorter than his right, Dr Davies helped organise an appeal to raise £1,500 to fly him to the UK for treatment.

Daniel was assessed at the Nuffield Hospital earlier this month and is set to return within the next year for surgery.
