GP pilot aims to cut referrals to urology

Dr David Bevan's practice is helping to run a Government-backed pilot that aims to cut urological referrals and standardise care.

Dr Bevan, a GP in Upwell, Cambridgeshire, helped write guidelines to be sent to GPs in three PCTs. They set out the assessments that should be conducted before a referral is made.

'A larger proportion of patients could be cared for in primary care,' he said.
