GP shamed by trust over access

Dr Ramkrishna Sankar has accused his PCT of 'persecution' after he was named and shamed in a local newspaper for not meeting the 48-hour access target.

The singlehanded GP's South Shields practice was named along with three others after South Tyneside PCT published practices' performance and reasons why they had not met the target. 'My staff are aghast,' Dr Sankar (above) said. 'I have a list of 3,300. How many more hours do we have to work?'

I am also on-call all the time.'
