GP still trying to recruit partner after five years

Dr Anita Sharma has spent five years trying to recruit a partner to her singlehanded practice in Oldham.

She said a salaried GP recruited from overseas joined earlier this year but left after two months because of workload and high patient expectations.

'The image of Oldham has gone down since the racial violence and people don't want to come here,' Dr Sharma said.

'I have stopped doing Saturday surgeries but still the pressure remains. If I can't get any help by next year or the year after I might go part-time or do locum work. I can't have any more stress.'
