GP takes a walk on the wild side

Dr Steve Wilson's feat of walking 60 miles in five days does not on the face of it sound like the most impressive of charity endeavours. But his trek was across the treacherous Torres Del Paine glacial park in southern Patagonia, Chile.

And he braved 70mph winds, avalanches and prowling pumas as well as the crevasses in order to raise nearly £80,000 for the British Heart Foundation.

Dr Wilson, a GP in Aberdeen, said: 'We had a great time with spectacular scenery, despite weather that wouldn't be out of place in Aberdeen.'
