GP to exhibit refugees' art

Dr Paul Kelland's practice will be one of a handful in London to host an exhibition of art by asylum seekers and refugees this summer.

A high proportion of patients at the surgery in Shoreditch are asylum seekers.

Dr Kelland said the exhibition, curated by Artists in Exile, would improve the artists' self-worth and enable patients to identify with their experiences. 'It will be empowering for the artists to have their work exhibited and empowering for patients to see that people who are marginalised can produce something meaningful,' he said.

Themes explored will include the artists' first impressions of London.
