GP training opportunity

The demise of MTAS and the disgraceful behaviour of the Government towards junior doctors provide us with a training opportunity.

GP training is normally three years. Surely now is the time to introduce 18 months' GP attachment (rather than the current 12 months) as the basic requirement for GP training.

This would reduce the hospital component to 18 months, which could be the most appropriate post for the individual concerned. The reduction of GP attached hospital posts provides us with the opportunity to employ many of those doctors who will find themselves unemployed in August if this opportunity is not taken
