GPs angry as GPC fails to advise on PGEA claims

Health minister John Hutton says GPs' claims that the Choose and Book scheme will turn them into 'travel agents' are 'crap'.

Speaking to a New Health Network conference this week Mr Hutton added: 'And that's the legal term.'

Mr Hutton said practices would not be expected to use Choose and Book from April 1 if they took on practice-based commissioning, but they would need to give a 'commitment' to it.

'In return for this freedom they should accept that gold standard,' he said.
